Parent Information

The dojang is a formal training hall of higher learning where students of all ages and physical abilities can learn the martial art of taekwondo. Taekwondo can help one achieve one’s fullest potential in and out of class. Behavior, regardless of rank, must at all times show the respect the dojang deserves.

Please ensure your taekwondo student is dressed in full dobok (uniform), this includes a dhee (belt) that is properly tied.

Please arrive 10 minutes before class so your child can warm up before class begins.

If you bring small children with you do not allow them on the mats. The mats are for the practice of taekwondo and they might get hurt.

Barrett’s Taekwondo, LLC is not a baby sitting service, please stay the 50 minutes of class with your child. You will appreciate seeing their progress and they will appreciate you watching them learn taekwondo. If you must leave, please be on time to pick them up when class ends.

No coaching or disciplining from the sidelines.

Silence cellular telephones and electronic devices. Your taekwondo student needs to concentrate on taekwondo.

Help your taekwondo student practice at home. You might not know the poomse (form) but, you can help by counting the steps for them. The more repetitions a beginner gets, the more confidence your child builds.

It is important to know that each student must attend a predetermined number of classes before they will be eligible to test for the next belt level.

Each skill level and belt rank that your child attains becomes more challenging.

Your encouragement will help your taekwondo student understand that perseverance (innae) until a goal has been reached is a worthwhile and honorable achievement.
